Have you ever heard that you don't need to get more than 20 minutes of cardio workout a day to reap the benefits? Well, the same applies to tackling clutter. I've actually adopted this method myself because, while I love the way I feel after "purging", I sometimes feel overwhelmed by the idea of it. Splitting it up into 20 minute tasks is easy peasy. And, wait for it... you might be on a roll and feel like you can do another 20!
Focus on one room at a time; let's say the kitchen. Day 1 you tackle the junk drawer (we all have at least one!). Next day, the plastic food storage cabinet (do you really need a lid with no bottom?). Toss the lone rangers! Day 3 you go through the linens and get rid of the tattered dish towels, stained placemats, burnt potholders, etc... Day 4 you edit out the coffee mugs that seem to multiply over time. And so on, until that room is done (well almost). Now that all the cupboards have been edited, see if you can move some...
Selling a home can be alot of work but TRUST ME, all of your time and effort will not go to waste. If you are looking to get top dollar for your home you will need to show buyers that your home is worry free and move in ready. There are lots of articles out there on this subject but I can speak from experience, that these pre-listing tips will not steer your wrong!
The internet has a head-spinning number of articles on the interview questions you should ask a Real Estate Agent when you are ready list your home for sale. In my opinion, the most important question that doesn't seem to get a lot of attention is "What will be the marketing strategy for my home?". During the 2020-2022 sellers market we just went through, many Agents didn't do much, if any, marketing. They simply entered the listing into their MLS because they felt the home would sell regardless, and in some cases that was true. However, with a buyers market fast approaching, those agents are going to need to step up their game. So now, more than ever, it's important for you to ask the Agent you are interviewing how they plan on marketing your home.
Marketing a home takes time, effort, and creativity. Not everything on my list below is applicable to every home I market but see how many items on my list the Agent you interview even mentions; and then call me!
